Andromeda Industries Pty Ltd is a locally owned manufacturing company located on a 5 hectare site in the village of Moonbi, 22 km north of Tamworth. It employs 14 fulltime staff and a number of part time staff. It is the present entity of a series of firms and Companies originated and operated by Raymond McLaren in the period 1962 to 2010.

Over the years Andromeda has established itself as an innovator in the wire rope industry in Australia. Its special field is the design and manufacture of plaited and woven steel cables for rigging gear and terminal systems for these cables. The ability to carry through with research projects and apply the results has led to successful development of new products and manufacturing processes. Some of the research projects required many years before production commenced. The establishment in 1976 of the first machining capability has enabled the Company to carry out these projects, and to manufacture the tools and machines to make the products. This early capability has been continued through to the present high tech machine tools employed in our Engineering Division.

Although much of the production technology is basically simple, it is quite original, meaning completely new, not copied from other companies. Powered by this originality, five products enjoy the status of a monopoly, while the rest are virtual monopolies. (Meaning very few have been copied).

Although the basis of the Company is technical, that is the manufacture of physical products, the management believe that the human and social responsibilities are equally important. Much effort is put into satisfying staff and customer needs through modern management practices. As well, special effort is made in ensuring that the products are the best we can do.

Presently the Company operates as three Divisions, which are Plaited and Woven Products, Reusable Products, Engineering Services.

Andromeda Industries supplies its plaited and woven steel cables to customers all over Australia and overseas, through an established network of about 100 distributors. As well, there are hundreds of direct end users drawing from the Reusables Division, mainly in NSW, Qld and Victoria, while the Engineering Division provides machined components to many customers as well as to Andromeda's own divisions for further assembly

Precision Engineering Division – Economic machining of complex parts using high tech CNC machine tools. This service will be part of particular interest to engineers needing parts for machines or prototypes.

Plaited and Woven Division – If you are into serious lifting specify steel slings and lift with confidence and safety. Andromeda Industries Plaited and Woven division manufacture plaited and woven steel products which are used in a wide range of industrial applications, such as mining, military, building, shipping etc.

Reusables - This division is committed to helping the environment, reducing waste and saving energy by recycling used conveyor belt from Australian coalmines. It is a very strong, durable, light and easy to handle product with over 102 different applications and available in different lengths, width and thickness.
