What they are:
Rubber rails are made as precision cut strips of disused conveyor belt. They are typically 100mm wide and up to 11mm thick. Rubber rails have proved very successful in constructions of horse yards. The strength varies between 2000 and 3000 KGS of UTS (App. 2.5 ton breaking strain). This depends on the number of polyester layers in the rubber. Normally there are 3 to 4 layers. Rubber Rail is a reused industrial product which helps minimise environmental impact in land fill sites.
What they do:
They provide a high visible and resilient barrier which will absorb impacts to reduce injury to horse and rider. They can also be painted if required. They will withstand UV radiation for many years without degradation. They are also very resistant to water incursion.
Why are they used:
Rubber rails will not bow, warp or twist like some timber rails. The chance of breaking on impact is minimal. They are neat, simple, quick and economical to install. Provided that strainer posts and fastenings are sound you should not witness sagging after years of use. Ideal for equestrian yards, horse yards, visual baulks in existing fences, dressage arenas, stationery machinery drive belts, garden edging, packing strips for large pipes.
