Plaited and Woven Steel Division

This is where Andromeda started, when Raymond McLaren began splicing wire rope back in 1962, so in a way, Andromeda Industries was founded on wire rope.

Nowadays, this Division is concerned with the manufacture of Superflex plaited steel cables and slings and sling assemblies, and woven steel cables used in the assembly of  our range of Flat Woven Steel Slings. It also carries out the assembly of the Andromeda Recovery Strops.

These products are used in a wide range of industrial applications, such as mining, military, shipping, manufacturing and building.

The Superflex cables are supplied in reels for on site assembly by about 80 distributors throughout  Australia.  Many assembled slings and various types are also supplied through these distributors.

Ongoing research has lead on to a number of innovations in this Division, the latest one the result of Project # 078., the Double Swage Technology for swage joints in plaited cables and ropes using steel ferrules.
